The contracting of the first call for proposals has been concluded in May. Altogether 11 projects, of which eight has a Finnish and three a Russian lead partner and all falling under the theme, Cross-border solutions for sustainable spatial, economic and environmental development, of the first call were funded. The sum made availabel for the call, 4,8 million euros, was fully contracted.

• Complex development of regional cooperation in the field of open ICT innovations, Petrozavodsk State University as a lead partner
• Cities by the water - new opportunities for business development, Joensuu Regional Development Company JOSEK Ltd as a lead partner
• Improving the gravelroad Kostomuksha-Kalevala, Municipality of Suomussalmi as a lead partner
• PoCoBus - The Possibilities of Coopertion, Business and Trade across the Border between the enterprises, Juminkeko Foundation as a lead partner
  
• Better life for Karelian villages, Friends of Kinerma Association as a lead partner
• Sheephusbandry in the Kalevala District, Municipality of Suomussalmi as a lead partner
  
• Green cities and settlements - Sustainalbe spatial development in remote border areas, University of Oulu, NorTech as a lead partner
• Ground water supply in Sortavala district Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Lapland as a lead partner
• Improvement of the environment and living standards is the basis for modern rural development, Energy Efficiency Center as a lead partner
• Support to sustainable development of Sortavala town for the improvement of environmental situation, Technoreactor Oy as a lead partner
